Bengkalis District to Earn Extra Incentive DID in 2020

In 2020, Bengkalis will be earning significant extra incentive funds (DID), as it succeeds to speed up the bureaucratic reform in its government.

Jakarta, GATRAreview.com - Located in a peripheral area, the Bengkalis district government now may take pride in its better public services, something much-expected by any remote district residents. This achievement has been a result of excellent progress in its bureaucratic reforms.

In 2019, Bengkalis, one of Riau's municipalities, was on the 66th position among 514 districts in Indonesia in terms of innovations. The 7,793.93-square-km region won an acknowledgment by the Ministry of Home Affairs as the most innovative region in 2019, after recording a 3,650 index score.

This achievement was inseparable from the efforts by the local administrative organization. Based on the high index score, in 2020, Bengkalis will be receiving an extra Rp3bn-Rp4bn regional incentive fund (DID). As of 2020, Bengkalis will have received Rp41bn incentive funds from the central government, an Rp14.25bn increase from the Rp26.75bn fund in 2019.

Innovations play a pivotal role in Bengkalis' bureaucratic reforms. One of its latest innovation was pioneered by Bengkalis regional secretary, Bustami HY, and has been named "Simanjapadu." The program was presented during the 2019 National Leadership Training Innovation Festival Batch XLII in Jakarta, last October. Simanjapadu is an integrated tax management system developed by Mr. Bustami's team to deliver an online taxation system in Bengkalis and Riau province.

When it is launched, the Bengkalis government will have stepped forward its bureaucratic reforms, particularly in the public taxation system. And based on this innovation, Bengkalis has received GATRA 25th Year Award in 2019 for its success in doing bureaucratic reforms.

The award was received by the head of Bengkalis communications, information, and statistics, Johansyah Syafri, on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, in IPB International Convention Center, Bogor, West java.

“This GATRA Award 25 will be our motivation to speed up the governmental reform and to provide excellent public services and democratic governmental management in Bengkalis,” said Mr. Johan after receiving the award.
